Antitrust training at Philips, with estimates of confidence

To train clients on competition law, the law department of Philips in 2004 used internet-based knowledge sharing and a Lotus Notes-based interactive tool that asked 25 to 30 multiple-choice questions on anti-trust. What’s unusual is that the tool also asked respondents how confident they were in giving each answer. Individual results are not analyzed but group results on accuracy and certainty determine whether more training or memos are required.

The preventive law technique is impressive, especially the assessment of how strongly clients feel about the certainty of their understanding.
