Law Department Consulting Experience

2008-present: Assisted with (1) benchmarking project for pharmaceutical companies (data compilation, presentation and analysis); (2) full review of the legal function of a major insurance company (extensive interviews, analysis of survey data, facilitation of lawyer conference, development of recommendations; (3) review of use of outside counsel and inside counsel by a government-owned insurance company (analyzed interview comments and reviewed report); and (4) review of law department of consumer electronics company (prepared survey and analyzed results, reviewed report).

Academic Work Experience

1989-1994; 2004-present: Boston University School of Management Assistant Professor, Operations Management.   Researched Organizational Learning; wrote cases and teaching notes, taught required MBA Production Operations, elective MBA and undergraduate Service Operations courses, Accounting MBA Program. Spring 1993 Course Head for required MBA Operations Management course. 2005-2007 Course Coordinator year-long required freshman courses SM 121/122.

Industry Work Experience

1994-2004: Ames Safety Envelope Company, Somerville, MA.  Vice President Quality and Special Projects. Reported to the President/CEO of $60M family-owned printing and packaging business as internal turnaround manager for several departments, and as an advisor to all functions to improve revenues, costs, and quality. Directly managed the Quality Assurance, Call Center, and Information Systems departments.

1988-1992: TQM, Ltd., Cambridge, MA.  Part-time, delivering 1-2 day Executive Education sessions on Service Guarantees, Service Operations Process Mapping at GE’s Crotonville facility and elsewhere.

1982-1983: Harvard Business School  Associates Fellow.  Researched management of large, complex projects; wrote cases and teaching notes.

1978-1980: Industrial Cooperative Association, Cambridge, MA.  Founding Staff Member.  Wrote and analyzed business plans, consulted to small start-up companies.
