Snapple facts about general counsel. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was an attorney in Monsanto’s corporate-law department in the 1970s, according to a blog site.

Legal projects sent to offshore service providers. According to a K&L Gates’ ad in Inside Counsel, Feb. 2008 at 90, American Express has sent various legal projects offshore. The two varieties of work cited “involve the writing of patent applications and the review and analysis of discovery records” (See my post of April 20, 2008: Church’s offshore exploits.).

Cost per hour of ANZAC lawyers. A press release, dated March 14, 2008, for the (Australian Corporate Lawyers Association (ACLA) and Corporate Lawyers Association of New Zealand (CLANZ) Legal Department Benchmarking Report 2008 reveals that on a chargeable hours basis, the median hourly cost of in-house counsel in Australia is A$222 while in New Zealand it is NZ$121 (See my post of Jan. 30, 2008: per hour cost of senior lawyers.).

Advanced Paralegal Education Group (APEG). The mission of APEG is to serve the professional interests of paralegals who work in law departments. Two people in particular have built the organization and its website: Kelly Montgomery and Scott Foster.
