Rees Morrison Morsels #40 – modest additions to previous posts

Board of Directors’ software. To my post of July 19, 2006 and its discussion of board communication software, InsideCounsel, Feb. 2007 at 40, has a solid explication of the genre, highlighted by Directors Desk, which Kodak uses (See my post of Aug. 9, 2006 and its prediction of the merger of packages; Oct. 29, 2006 with Diligent Boardbooks and other vendors; and Oct. 1, 2006 on BoardVantage.). Another package mentioned is BoardWorks.

Venn diagrams – the book. I wrote about the usefulness for in-house managers of Venn diagrams (See my post of Jan. 3, 2007.) and wouldn’t you know, as I read in the J. History of Ideas, Jan. 2007 at 150, fn.34, what should overlap that post? A.W.F. Edwards, Cogwheels of the Mind: The Story of Venn Diagrams (Johns Hopkins Univ. Press, 2004). They say the movie,

Venn Earths Collide

, isn’t nearly as good.

Resources on social network analysis. A regularly-updated list of more than 70 programs that can help create graphs and tools for organizational network analysis is available on the web site of the International Network for Social Network Analysis (INSNA) (See my post of Nov. 6, 2006 on the value of a knowledge network analysis.).

Position descriptions – corporate secretarial services coordinator. Save yourself the trouble of drafting one of these, whether for an incumbent or a recruit. An excellent one is online from Corn Products International (See my post of June 21, 2006 on position descriptions.).
