Systems that allow employees to report legal and ethical infractions

Part of many ethics program and a frequent component of preventive law is an 800 number for employees who want to report potential wrongdoing. Internet Security Systems, for example, uses EthicsPoint’s system to provide for anonymous reporting.

At ISS, anything that is reported goes to the general counsel, to the company’s compliance officer, and to the audit committee. (See my post of June 13, 2006 regarding online software for compliance training.)
